Although a few patches of snow can still be found, the country club golf course has melted out enough that they are golfing again—something that hasn’t ever happened in the past 11 years we’ve had local skiing here! Most of the mountain ski resorts are also hurting for snow. We can only hope that winter weather returns to our state soon—think snow!
The mountain ski resorts have a chance of snow later this week and into the weekend—which is desperately needed—and we might even see a little locally, although likely not enough to do anything with. Unfortunately, we have unseasonably warm temperatures predicted across the majority of state for another couple weeks, but hopefully we’ll see a weather pattern change towards the end of December. It’s been a strange start to ski season—think snow!
Our local trails are still closed, so I headed up to ski at Breckenridge today. They just received over 2 feet of snow, but these are what their trails looked like today: Although Woodmoor doesn’t get as much snow or have the colder temperatures of the mountain resorts, our ski trail grooming, especially early season, is far superior thanks to our equipment and awesome volunteers!
Although we did pick up 1/2" of new snow after lunch, the warmer temperatures today melted out several of the cart path crossings, and some other spots on the trail. Unfortunately, too much has melted out for us to safely re-groom the ski trails without risking damage to the Country Club's golf course turf, forcing us to temporarily close the ski trails until we get more snow.
