Early season loop expected to be open to the 'experienced' skiing public this weekend (9-10 Nov)

Assuming that the Country Club at Woodmoor is able to open tomorrow morning without a weather delay, they should be able to sell daily trail passes to experienced skiers who want to get some early season skiing in. We groomed the modified 'blue-black connector trail which is about a full mile of groomed trail if you ski the upper loop plus the out and back. This is the most terrain the Country Club can offer us at the moment, until they finish winterizing and prepping the golf course, and pulling the dozens of signs off the fairways next week.

This loop is NOT a beginner loop, so novice skiers should wait until the next good snow storm when we hope to be able to open our easier trails. Additionally, our Nonprofit Rental Ski shop will NOT be open, so all experienced skiers will also need to own all their own ski equipment. It skied great this morning, and I have certainly skied much shorter loops (typically on man-made snow) in desperation this early in the season at other places....

Even if the club has a delayed opening due to weather, of course current season pass holders are welcome to use their pass and ski. The access trail to the groomed loop starts on the East side of the Club's entry road, immediately across from the first, upper parking lot you see (on the right), and then cuts down to the nicely groomed loop. Please do not cut through the ungroomed snow as many golf signs/implements are still present and buried in the snow!

We have also had many recent season pass purchases with this recent snowstorm. We will process these new passes and mail them out asap, but likely they won't arrive until next week. (This is why we always encourage the early purchase, as we never know when the season will start, but when it does, our all-volunteer staff has limited time to process passes when they are also grooming trails and setting up the Nordic center for the arrival of winter).

We were not able to set classic tracks today, but expect to have them for tomorrow, and if it doesn't warm up too much Saturday, likely will be able to ski Sunday morning as well. If I hear of a delayed opening or another weather closure by the country club (eliminating the ability for non-season pass holders to buy a trail pass and ski), I will let you know. Four to eight more inches of snow expected over night--think snow!
