Skate lane re-groom for Friday

Today's opening day had some of the best first-day conditions we've had in several years, and at least a dozen skiers were taking advantage of it before 10am when I had to leave! The skate lane was 'firm enough' for good skating, and we even had classic tracks set on all 3 loops, although they were thin in a few spots. We lucked out with a decent amount of snow with a good moisture level, and most importantly, no wind that seems to accompany most of our bigger snow-storms. Plus stellar grooming by Kip and Abe!
We won't be able to improve on the current classic tracks, but we will re-groom the skate lane on all three loops for Friday. Hopefully the snow will make it to or through the weekend, but the long range forecast is calling for warmer than average temperatures (mid-50s) next week. The mountains are supposed to get more snow this weekend, and although unlikely, hopefully some of it will make it across the divide and give us a few more inches locally.
Although we'll have to temporarily close the trails pending more snow, hopefully we'll see more moisture and cooler temperatures as we near the end of December. think snow!
